Getting to St Martin

 

From nearby the islands of Martinique, Guadeloupe and St Barts there are small propellor planes which fly into Esperance Airport (airport code CFG), but all other flights actually arrive in the Dutch side of the island (Sint Maarten), at Juliana Airport (airport code SXM). This well served airport (by Air France, American Airlines, Continental, US and more) handles over 1.2 million visitors a year, quite amazing for such a small island.
It is only a ten or twenty minute drive from Princess Juliana Airport to Saint Martin, and plenty of cab firms that will take you (they run 24 hours a day, dial 147 for Dutch information).

Alternatively there are plenty of ferries and catamarans that run from the nearby islands - Anguilla, St Barts and Saba in particular. If you are Yachting you should enter St Martin at Marigot and go through immigration there. For those visiting on an organised cruise these details should be take care of for you.
