Brookgreen Gardens is a National Historic Landmark consisting of four colonial plantations.

And just fifteen minutes from Pawleys Island and the serene silence of Brookgreen Gardens is the roaring action of Myrtle Beach. There are thousands of quality restaurants, huge shopping malls, theme parks for kids, and the largest variety of entertainment found anywhere in the world.

For entertainment in the Pawleys Island area try Charlie's on Hwy 17 at Murrells Inlet on a Friday or Saturday night. Charlie Floyd performs a live country music show that will have your grandmother dancing on the bar. Charley was born to boogie and he is an extraordinary musician. And if you want to know where the action is for the young and crazy, go ask Cat, the bartender at the Sandy Monkey located on Hwy 17 at Murrells Inlet. Inland Waterway at Parleys Island
The Inland Waterway (ICW) begins at Norfolk, Virginia and runs south to Key West, Florida, runs through the heart of Pawleys Island. Just a five minute drive from the island, the ICW offers thousands of acres of open space, saltwater marsh, and some extraordinary fishing. Dockage is available at Wachesaw Plantation.

Scuba Diving is available in Murrells Inlet and offshore diving is some of the best in the world. The City of Richmond, located 13 miles from the Georgetown sea buoy, is one of the best ship wreck dives in the northern hemisphere. Ten Mile wreck is a mature artificial reef loaded with Wahoo, Mackerel, and Dolphin. Also, charter fishing boats offer some of the best offshore fishing trips in Myrtle Beach. For anglers and divers, Murrells Inlet has it all!
